COD profit and Meta ad budget calculator

Most sellers price on gut feel and budget ads on guesswork. Put your real numbers in and see what a delivered order actually earns you after courier tax, returns and the charge on paying Meta, then size a campaign against that.

Since July 2025 your courier deducts this from every COD order before it settles with you: roughly 2% income tax as final tax plus 2% sales tax for ATL filers, closer to 6% if you are not on the list. Confirm your own figure with the courier.

COD and ad budget questions

What tax does the courier deduct from a COD order in Pakistan?

Under the e-commerce regime that began in July 2025, couriers deduct tax from the cash they collect before settling with you. For sellers on the Active Taxpayer List the deduction works out at roughly 4% of order value, made up of about 2% income tax treated as final tax and about 2% sales tax. Sellers who are not on the list are deducted closer to 6%. Confirm the exact figures with your courier and your tax consultant, because the rate applied depends on your filer status and can change with each finance act.

Why does a returned COD order cost so much?

A failed delivery does not simply cancel out. You have already paid for the ad that produced the order, the packing material, the forward shipping leg and usually the return leg as well. Only the product comes back. At an 80% delivery rate every fifth parcel carries those four costs with no revenue against it, which is why the same product can be profitable at 90% delivery and loss-making at 65%.

What delivery rate should a Pakistani COD seller expect?

Most stores land between 70% and 85%. Confirmed orders through WhatsApp or a call before dispatch push the rate up, while pure one-click checkout on cold traffic pulls it down. Use the rate your courier dashboard actually reports over the last month rather than the figure you hope for, because this single input moves profit more than any other.

What is breakeven ROAS and how do I use it?

Breakeven ROAS is the return on ad spend at which your profit is exactly zero after every cost, including returns and the charges on paying Meta. If Ads Manager reports a ROAS below that number you are losing money on each order even though sales are coming in. Target a ROAS meaningfully above breakeven so there is room for the first testing week, when cost per purchase usually runs worse than target while the algorithm learns.

How much should I budget for a new Meta campaign?

Meta needs roughly 50 conversions per ad set within 7 days to leave the learning phase and stabilise delivery. Multiply 50 by your target cost per purchase and divide by 7 for a daily figure. Budget below that and the system keeps guessing, which makes your results look worse than your product or creative deserves. Keep reserve budget on top, because early cost per purchase commonly runs one and a half to two times target.

Does being a filer actually save money on COD orders?

Yes, and it is measurable on every order rather than once a year. The courier deducts a lower percentage of order value from Active Taxpayer List sellers, so the saving lands on each parcel that gets delivered. This calculator shows the difference in rupees per delivered order and per month at your own volume, which is usually a larger number than sellers expect.
